GTT expands LNG vessels cooperation with COSCO Shipping group
What is LNG?
Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is natural gas that has been cooled to a liquid state, at about -260 F, for shipping and storage. The volume of natural gas in its liquid state is about 600 times smaller than its volume in its gaseous state. This process makes it possible to transport natural gas to places pipelines do not reach.

GTT (Gaztransport & Technigaz) has signed a cooperation agreement with COSCO Shipping LNG Investment (CSLNG) and COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (CHI).
CSLNG is a specialist in LNG transportation project investment, shipbuilding and management, while CHI operates nine shipyards, performs shipbuilding, offshore engineering and construction.
GTT and CHI had previously signed a cooperation agreement in January 2018, later renewed, covering newbuilding, maintenance and retrofits of LNG carriers and LNG-fueled ships.
The three parties will investigate potential partnerships in a variety of LNG vessels, including floating liquefied natural gas (FLNGs), which would involve incorporation of GTT’s membrane technology.
