Ørsted has started offshore construction for the Greater Changhua 2b and 4 wind farms in Taiwan, with a combined projected capacity of 920 MW.
The two developments will cover a 185-sq km area, 35-60 km from the coast of Changhua County, in water depths of 24-44 m.
Ørsted was awarded rights for the projects in June 2018, and just over two years later signed a 20-year fixed-price power purchase agreement with a corporate customer covering the full production of the wind farms.
Since taking FID in March 2023, manufacture has started of key components and civil work has been completed for the onshore substation.
First power is expected during the third quarter. All offshore installation work should he completed by the end of 2025, with the 66 Siemens Gamesa 14-236 DD 14-MW turbines fully connected to the Taiwanese grid in 2026.
