CIP awards Fengmiao 1 wind construction work offshore Taiwan
Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has issued two of the main offshore construction contracts for the Fengmiao 1 wind farm project in Thailand.
The 500-MW development is 35 km from the coast Taichung, central Taiwan.
Van Oord will transport, install and bury the 33 inter-array cables, with a total length of about 64 km, using its cable-lay vessel Nexus and a remote-controlled trencher for the burial program. Cable installation should begin in 2027.
Previously Van Oord installed inter-array and export cables at Taiwan’s Greater Changhua offshore wind farms.
DEME, via its Taiwanese joint venture CDWE, will transport and install (T&I) the foundations and offshore substation for Fengmiao 1.
CDWE is responsible for T&I of 33 jacket foundations, the pin piles anchoring these to the seafloor and the substation. It will deploy the offshore installation vessel Green Jade, with activities set to start during first-quarter 2026.
The same combination earlier worked on the 300-MW Zhong Neng offshore wind development.
