DELFT, the Netherlands— bp has contracted Allseas to complete subsea pipelaying for the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) gas development offshore Mauritania and Senegal.
Allseas’ Pioneering Spirit will start construction early in December with support from the company’s Oceanic vessel.
The scope covers about 75 km remaining of the two 16-inch export pipelines with field termination assemblies (FTAs) in water depths from 1,500 m to 2,800 m; and four 10-inch CRA infield lines with FTAs up to 2 km long in 2,800 m of water.
The bp and Allseas teams assessed the technical feasibility of installing the pipelines and subsea structures, which were originally designed for J-lay installation, using the S-lay specialist vessel Pioneering Spirit’s 2,000-metric-ton tension holding capacity.
To install the 10 FTAs, the vessel will be fitted with a 1,000-mt J-mode installation frame, designed in-house and fabricated at Allseas’ Heijningen yard in the Netherlands.
