Subsea7 starts engineering for Northern Lights Phase 2 CO2 pipeline

Equinor has appointed Subsea7 as technical service provider for the Northern Lights Phase 2 carbon capture and storage project in the Norwegian North Sea.

Subsea7’s duties will include engineering, procurement, construction and installation of a 5-km subsea pipeline, transporting CO2 emitted by various industries onshore. It also includes installation of integrated satellite structures, umbilicals, tie-ins and pre-commissioning activities.
Project management and engineering will take place at the company’s offices in Stavanger, with fabrication of the pipeline performed at Subsea7’s spoolbase at Vigra, northwest Norway.
Offshore operations will follow during 2026 and 2027.
