Offshore Middle East 2009 is scheduled for Oct. 27-29, 2009, at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre in Manama, Bahrain. Offshore Middle East (OME) provides a forum for industry leaders to address technical issues, introduce pioneering technology, and share lessons learned about finding, developing, and producing offshore Middle East oil and gas.
OME’s 2009 emphasis is toDeliver Solutions for Offshore Growth.
Keynote speakers
H.E. Dr. Abdul-Hussain Bin Ali Mirza, Minister of Oil & Gas Affairs and Chairman of National Oil & Gas Authority, Kingdom of Bahrain, will deliver the keynote address. He was appointed Minister of State in 2002 and Minister of Cabinet Affairs in 2004. Prior to becoming a Cabinet minister, he was CEO of Bapco. He holds a PhD in change management from the U.K.
Fahad A. Al-Moosa, VP of Northern Area Oil Operation, Offshore Operations, Saudi Aramco, is scheduled to deliver the welcome address. He is responsible for the production and management of the oil production operations for all the Saudi Arabian Offshore fields. Al-Moosa is chairman of Saudi Aramco Lubricating Oil Refining Co. (Luberef), a joint venture of Saudi Aramco and Jadwa Investment. The company produces base oil in Jeddah and Yanbu.
Chairman of Offshore Middle East 2009 Abdulla I. Al-Kubaisy is the manager of Safaniya Offshore Producing Department, Saudi Aramco. Al-Kubaisy is responsible for production and management of three offshore oil fields – Safaniya, Zuluf, and Marjan – with a total production capacity of 2.5 MMb/d of oil. He received his BS degree in petroleum engineering from King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals, and attended the University Executive Program in Oxford.
Conference and exhibits
The exhibition officially opens at 10:30 a.m. The first conference session Tuesday, is dedicated to field development and management. The chair of the session is Abdulla I. Al-Kubaisy, Saudi Aramco. Speakers of the session include: Ali Al-Felasi, ADMA-OPCO, UAE; Ian McRobbie, Arup, Australia; Stuart Holley, MCS, SEM & Comms, UK; and Mohamed Salah-eldin, Sidpec, Egypt.
Chaired by Ali Mohamed Al-Mutairi, ADMA-OPCO, UAE, the flow assurance session is set for the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 28. Presentations will be given by Mohammad Ali Humaid, Qatar Petroleum, (Offshore Operations), Qatar; Lars Anders Ruden, Roxar Flow Measurement AS, Norway; Mohd Ali Al-azba, Qatar Petroleum, (Offshore Operations), Qatar; and Matt Wilson, Tracerco, UK.
Wednesday morning continues with the flowlines and pipelines session chaired by Ali Mohamed Al-Mutairi, ADMA-OPCO, UAE. Ibrahim Khalil Al-Jaidah, Qatar Petroleum (Offshore Operations), Qatar; and Raveendra Reddy, J Ray McDermott, UAE, are expected to speak.
Wednesday afternoon will open with the drilling session. Adel Mohamed Ali Al Jalahma, Bapco, Bahrain, will chair. Ali Ahmed, Qatar Petroleum, (Offshore Operations), Qatar; George Sfeir, Technical Industries Inc. USA; and Kevin J Hudson, MIS, UAE, are expected to give presentations.
Mubarak A. Al-Hajri, Qatar Petroleum, (Offshore Operations), Qatar, will chair Wednesday’s final session on HSE. Speakers include: Hassan Al-Saygh, Qatar Petroleum, (Offshore Operations), Qatar; Martin Snell, Pan Gulf Industrial Systems, Saudi Arabia; Jonathan Gilbert, Tyco Safety Products, UK; and Iain Mackay, Petrotechnics Ltd., UK.
Mohammad A. Al-Abdulwahid, Saudi Aramco, Saudi Arabia, will chair the Thursday, Oct. 29, morning session on subsea technology and mooring. Jan Frederik Doddema, Stopaq Europe, Netherlands; Mark Sim, T.D. Williamson Inc., Norway; Faisal Hijazi, Prosafe Production Pte Ltd, Singapore; and Jan Ingar Knudsen, Master Marine, Norway are expected to address the topic.
The final session of Offshore Middle East 2009 is dedicated to completions, and is chaired by Mohammad A. Al-Abdulwahid, Saudi Aramco. Peter Smith, Halliburton, UAE, and Hank Rogers, Halliburton, USA, are expected to give presentations.
Offshore Middle East 2009 concludes Thursday afternoon with the closing ceremony including remarks and recognition awards.
