EDF Renewables UK says the Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) wind farm in the UK central North Sea has delivered first power to the national grid.

The development, 15.5km from the coast of Fife, eastern Scotland, should be completed and fully commissioned by next summer. A total of 54 wind turbines will generate up to 450 MW of electricity.

The run-up to first generation will include loadout of components from the Port of Dundee on the Blue Tern vessel and installation of the first turbines.

All 54 foundation jackets have been installed, along with two offshore substations and another at the onshore Crystal Rig wind farm in the Lammermuir Hills.

ESB is EDF’s partner in the development.
