Hercules orders adaptable topsides/subsea crane for newbuild support ship
Hercules Supply has contracted Techano Oceanlift to provide a knuckle boom crane for its new multi-purpose support vessel under construction at Fujian Mawei Shipyard.
The 70-metric-ton capacity crane will perform subsea construction and topside lifting tasks for offshore wind and oil and gas projects.
It will feature an active heave compensated winch with 3,000-m wire for subsea operations as well as control/motion compensating systems from Techano Oceanlift’s sister company Intellilift (both are subsidiaries of Nekkar).
In addition, the crane will be equipped with a detachable, Safelift 3D-compensated lifting tool, designed to provide increased safety during lifting operations from vessel to topside installations in rough weather.
The tool is also capable of remaining in position during subsea operations, with no need to change the knuckle boom between the different work scopes.
The crane is due to be delivered in July 2026 and installed at a third-party facility in Europe.
Other projects in the works
In early March, Techano Oceanlift was awarded a contract by Sefine Shipyard to deliver an offshore crane to a newbuild construction support vessel that the Turkish shipyard is building for a partnership between Agalas, Eidesvik and Reach Subsea.
Later that same month, Techano Oceanlift was awarded a contract by CRIST S.A. to deliver two offshore knuckle boom cranes that will be installed on board an offshore support vessel (OSV) that is being built at the yard. CRIST is building the OSV for DOF. The vessel will be delivered to service offshore Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.
