Huisman will supply four knuckle booms for installation on the new MMC-designed platform supply vessels that are under construction at the Fujian Mawei shipyard.
Greek shipowner Capital Offshore ordered the cranes for the vessels, which will operate offshore Brazil.
The cranes will have a 100-mt lifting capacity and will be capable of operations in water depths of up to 3,000 m.
Each will feature Huisman’s active heave compensation system, which will connect the cranes’ electric setup to the Kongsberg-designed DC power grid, allowing interaction with the vessel’s electrical energy storage system.
According to Huisman, the integration should maximize the cranes’ power performance while also reducing net energy consumption, due to a proprietary energy recovery management system.
