RWE has contracted Dillinger Group subsidiary Steelwind Nordenham to manufacture up to 300 monopile foundations for offshore wind projects across Europe.
Steelwind will reserve capacity for 320,000 metric ton of steel at its Nordenham production site for 24 months from 2027 onwards in order to produce an initial 200 monopile foundations.
The arrangement can then be extended by a further 12 months to provide an additional capacity of 160,000 t of steel, sufficient for around 100 monopile foundations.
RWE plans to put the wind farms in operation from the end of 2029.
In addition, the company will be able to draw on additional services from Steelwind, such as the supply of secondary steel structures, or storage and logistics.
