BOSTON – Ørsted reports that its service operations vessel, ECO Edison, is nearing construction completion at the Edison Chouest facility in Houma, Louisiana.
The ECO Edison is over 260 feet in length, and is said to be the first US-built service operation vessel for the American offshore wind energy market.
The vessel will service Ørsted’s offshore wind farms in the northeast American region, including construction of the upcoming Revolution Wind and Sunrise Wind projects.
The SOV will be compliant with the Jones Act, a key requirement for the vessels Ørsted will use throughout the lifespan of its US offshore wind farms.
During these projects, the vessel is expected to be the working home for Ørsted’s wind turbine technicians, with enough space for 60 crew members.
