Aker BP awards power supply contract for North Sea Yggdrasil project

Aker BP has contracted LinjePartner to provide overhead lines for its Yggdrasil power from shore project in the Norwegian North Sea.

LYSAKER, Norway  Aker BP has contracted LinjePartner to provide overhead lines for its Yggdrasil power from shore project in the Norwegian North Sea.

Estimated value is above NOK100 million ($9.32 million), plus procurement of materials.

The power from shore concept, part of the oil and gas development for the Yggdrasil area, includes a new transformer station in Børdalen in Samnanger, 11 km of power line and cable in Samnanger, a compensation station at Årskog in Fitjar, and 255 km of subsea cable from Samnanger to the Yggdrasil area.

LinjePartner will deliver the 132-kV overhead lines with 26 masts from Børdalen to Gaupeholsmarka in Samnanger, and the 300-kV tie-in to Statnett’s transformer station in Børdalen with two new towers.

In April, Aker BP secured a power license to connect Yggdrasil to the national grid in in Samnanger. Recently Norway’s Parliament approved the development plan for the entire NOK 115 billion ($10.72 billion) project.

Onshore construction work on the overhead lines is set to start in October, with LinjePartner completing its work by August 2025. The Storting approved the plans for development and operation of the Yggdrasil area on June 5.
