EnergyPathways has appointed Wood lead engineering partner for its Marram Energy Storage Hub (MESH) project in the east Irish Sea offshore northwest England.

Wood will complete concept engineering and pre-FEED studies early next year, allowing the companies to progress the MESH project through the engineering, construction, commissioning and management phases pending FID at the end of next year.

Under the agreement, Wood will collaborate with and advise EnergyPathways' technical team on evaluating and further developing both the offshore and onshore facilities. This could lead to Wood assuming Duty Holdership and operatorship of the MESH storage facility once commissioned.

MESH is designed to provide a stable supply of offshore natural gas and green hydrogen to the UK for over 20 years. The decarbonized and electrified zero emission facility would be powered by wind farms in the Irish Sea.
