LYSAKER, Norway — Aker BP has exceeded its expectations with its latest discovery in the Norwegian North Sea.
Drilling is nearing completion of the Øst Frigg Beta/Epsilon exploration well in licenses PL 873 and 442 in the multi-field Yggdrasil development area. Other partners are Equinor and PGNiG Upstream Norway.
Initial estimates suggest recoverable volumes of 40 MMboe to 90 MMboe, against a pre-drill estimate of 18 MMboe to 45 MMboe. The find enhances the resource base for Yggdrasil, previously communicated as 650 MMboe (gross).
Aker BP submitted the plan for development and operations to the Norwegian authorities last December and aims to start production in 2027.
Per Øyvind Seljebotn, senior vice president of exploration and reservoir development, said the find would be considered as a potential addition to the Yggdrasil development.
“We see further upside potential around Yggdrasil and, in collaboration with our partners, will continue active exploration in the area.”
