Harbour Energy has confirmed gas with an appraisal well on the Sabina discovery in the Norwegian Sea.
The Transocean Norge semisubmersible rig drilled the 6507/4-5 S well in 455 m of water, 270 km north of Kristiansund, in production license 211 CS.
According to a Norwegian Offshore Directorate update on Dec. 10, Harbour and co-licensees Petoro, Aker BP and Orlen are considering a tieback through existing infrastructure in the area.
The main goal was to delineate the gas/condensate discovery, originally made by Wintershall DEA (now owned by Harbour), in the Lange Formation and to perform formation testing.
In the main exploration target, the well encountered a 41-m gas column in sandstone rocks. In the secondary (Lysing Formation) target, the well penetrated a 30-m gas column in sandstone rocks.
The production test in the upper part of the Lange Formation flowed 530,000 cu. m of gas and 80 cu. m of condensate through a 28/64-inch nozzle opening.
The new estimates for the recoverable resources are 17 MMboe to 39 MMboe in the Lange Formation and 28 MMboe to 43 MMboe in the Lysing Formation.
