Sabah Shell Petroleum Co. has produced first oil production from the Phase 4 Gumusut-Kakap-Geronggong-Jagus East (GKGJE) deepwater development offshore Sabah/Brunei.
The project involved drilling three new producer wells and one water injection well—two each offshore Sabah and Brunei—tied back to the Gumusut-Kakap semisubmersible floating production system in 1,200 m water depth.
At peak, the new wells should contribute 21,000 boe/d.
Gumusut-Kakap, which came onstream in 2014, was Shell’s first deepwater project in Malaysia. The company took FID on Phase 4 in October 2022.
Sabah Shell Petroleum and its partners have taken a final investment decision on Phase 4 of the Gumusut-Kakap-Geronggong-Jagus East deepwater development.
