Gassco has permission from the Norwegian Ocean Industry Authority (Havtil) to install a new connection point on the Kvitebjørn gas pipeline to the Troll B platform in the Norwegian North Sea.

The pipeline runs from the Equinor-operated Kvitebjørn Field to the Kollsnes processing plant in western Norway.

The connection point is for a new pipeline that will transport gas from Troll B, also operated by Equinor.

Last year, the Troll B and C facilities underwent part-electrification.

Earlier this year, Equinor reported that Troll, Norway’s largest producing North Sea field, delivered a record 42.5 Bcm of gas in 2024. The previous high was 38.8 Bcm in 2022.

The Troll licensees are Equinor, Petoro, Norske Shell, TotalEnergies and ConocoPhillips.
