STOCKSFIELD, UK --Saipem has contracted The Engineering Business (EB) for a new J-lay system for its FDS field development ship.
The system will be equipped for deepwater pipelay, with a maximum dynamic line tension of 1,500 metric tons (1,653 tons), making it one of the world's largest J-lay towers.
EB will design, manufacture, assemble, and test the tower. Construction will be handled at two riverside locations in northeast England. Following pre-delivery testing, the system will be shipped to Rotterdam on a barge for commissioning onto theFDS.
