ABERDEEN, UK – Qatargas has awarded STATS Group a $10-million, 10-year contract to design, manufacture, and test pipeline isolation and intervention equipment for pipelines ranging in diameter from 16 to 38-in.
The equipment will be stored in Qatar in readiness for pre-planned and emergency situations at the offshore gas production facilities servingQatar’s North Field and the onshore LNG plant at Ras Laffan industrial city.
STATS will supply double block and bleed isolation tools including Remote Tecno Plugs from 16 to 38-in.; subsea monitoring and communication systems; and 32/38-in. BISEP intervention tools and hot tapping equipment.
Installation of the isolation and intervention tools should provide positive isolation at the required location and a safer environment for repairs to subsea pipelines in the event of damage.
