Bilfinger will perform access, insulation, coating and fireproofing services for individual projects and maintenance work for offshore and onshore facilities of the 169-km Forties pipeline system.
GRANGEMOUTH, UK — INEOS FPS has awarded Bilfinger a wide-ranging maintenance contract for the Forties Pipeline System (FPS), which transports and processes oil and gas from multiple fields in the North Sea to eastern Scotland.
The contract, which came into effect in January, is a continuation of the existing partnership between the two companies and carries options for a further extension.
Bilfinger will perform access, insulation, coating and fireproofing services for individual projects and maintenance work for offshore and onshore facilities of the 169-km pipeline system.
The work, executed by the company’s Maintenance and Insulation, Scaffolding and Corrosion Protection divisions, will involve deployment of about 130 employees on site each day.
bp started up the FPS in 1975 and under INEOS’ stewardship, the current aim is to extend the system’s lifespan into the 2040s.
