OSLO, Norway  The Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority has authorized trunklines operator to extend the lifetime of the Statpipe pipeline system for gas transport from 2024 until 2050.

Statpipe takes gas from multiple fields in the northern Norwegian North Sea, via the processing plant at Kårstø, western Norway, to the Emden terminal in northern Germany.

The 892-km system comprises four pipelines. It started service in 1985 and was the first gas pipeline to cross the Norwegian Trench.
