ABERDEEN, UK – Maritime Developments Ltd. (MDL) has completed a subsea pipelay program for Ocean Installer offshore Equatorial Guinea.
This involved installation from the Viking Neptunof umbilicals and flexible flowlines using MDL’s Horizontal Lay System (HLS) with an 85-metric ton (94-ton) tensioner plus work platform and a 400-metric ton (441-ton) reel drive system.
The facilities will help increase production from the existing field by bringing three new wells online.
MDL added the HLS to its rental fleet earlier this year. It features a 4.5-m (14.7-ft) overboarding chute, a 3-m (9.8-ft) entry chute, a work platform to accommodate installation of buoyancy modules, and a 75-metric ton (82.7-ton) hang-off beam.
It can also be fitted with hydraulically-operated davit arms providing a 97° pivot. The system can be assembled on a quayside and mobilized on board a vessel in two lifts (one for the HLS and the second for the tensioner).
