Odfjell to deploy acquired rig for long-term offshore Norway contract

Aker BP has awarded Odfjell Drilling a two-year firm drilling contract with optional extensions.

BERGEN, Norway – Aker BP has awarded Odfjell Drilling a two-year firm drilling contract with optional extensions.
Day rates will be based on market terms to be determined prior to the start of drilling. In addition, Aker BP has agreed to a performance bonus under the terms of analliance announced last November.
Minimum value of the contract, due to start in 2Q or 3Q 2019, will be $245 million, subject to adjustments.
Odfjell has entered an agreement with Samsung Heavy Industries to purchase the semisubmersible drilling rigStena MidMax for the program for $505 million.
This is an enhanced Moss Maritime CS-60 winterized rig, purpose-built for harsh environment drilling. The rig will be renamedDeepsea Nordkapp.
