EDINBURGH, UK – Cairn Energy expects to drill four wells during 2019-2020 on its licenses offshore Mexico.

The target areas are next to blocks containing recent major discoveries. Cairn claims to have already identified various attractive prospects and leads.

Offshore Suriname, the company was recently awarded operatorship of a large exploration block. Cairn points out that Suriname has a conjugate margin withSenegal in northwest Africa, where it has familiarity with the offshore geology from its deepwater oil field discoveries.

In northwest Europe, the company has a line-up of exploration wells this year and next in UK and Norwegian waters, targeting more than 1 Bbbl of unrisked reserves. This summer, Cairn expects to spud its first operated well in the region on the Ekland prospect.
