Equinor has contracted the Rowan Stavanger, an N-Class ultra-harsh environment jackup, to drill two wells at the Gudrun field in the Norwegian North Sea.

HOUSTON– Equinor has contracted the Rowan Stavanger, an N-Class ultra-harsh environment jackup, to drill two wells at the Gudrun field in the Norwegian North Sea.
The contract has a firm term of approximately five months plus options, and it is expected to begin in 3Q 2019. TheRowan Stavanger is currently on the Yme field for accommodations and platform support services for Repsol in Norway.
In addition, Equinor has signed a framework agreement with Rowan Norway Ltd., based on terms that will also apply to future rig contracts with the company.
The contract with theRowan Stavanger is based on the framework format and gives Equinor exclusive right to use the jackup up to 2025 if the rig is kept in continuous operation.
The value of the fixed part of the contract is estimated at $23 million. In addition to drilling services, the rig owner is responsible for casing running, slop treatment, and cuttings handling.
