Carnarvon issues findings on Dorado oil discovery

WEST PERTH, Australia – Carnarvon Petroleum has completed its assessment of the hydrocarbon volumes in the Dorado oil discovery in the WA-437-P permit offshore Western Australia.

It estimates oil resources in the 82-320 MMbbl range, with associated liquids and gas.

Managing Director and CEO Adrian Cook said the 171 MMbbl (mean estimate) represents is one of the largest oil resources ever found on the North West Shelf.

“Oil fields of this significant scale are not often found, with the last large field discovery on the North West Shelf being around 30 years ago,” he pointed out.

The gas and condensate discovered is also is a significant, he claimed - 552 bcf and 16 MMbbl. When combined with the partners’ nearby Roc field, the aggregate resource is around 884 bcf and 36 MMbbl on a 2C basis.
