PSA approves newbuild jackup for North Sea Oseberg drilling

Statoil has authorization from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority to use KCA Deutag’s newbuild jackup Askepott at the Oseberg Vestflanken 2 project in the North Sea.

OSLO, Norway – Statoil has authorization from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority to use KCA Deutag’s newbuild jackup Askepott at the Oseberg Vestflanken 2 project in the North Sea.
The consent, which applies until November 2025, covers drilling, side track drilling, plugging and well interventions.
TheAskepott is a Cat J type jackup owned by the partners in production license 053 (Oseberg), operated by Statoil. The rig, delivered earlier this year by Samsung in South Korea, is classified by DNV GL.
