Statoil adds wells to offshore Norway drilling rig contracts

Statoil has exercised an option with Dolphin Drilling for the semisubmersible Bideford Dolphin to drill an additional well in the Norwegian sector.

OSLO/BERGEN, Norway– Statoil has exercised an option with Dolphin Drilling for the semisubmersible Bideford Dolphin to drill an additional well in the Norwegian sector.
This will be in direct continuation of a well that was due to spud late last month. Contract value for the extension is around $17.2 million, with an estimated duration of the campaign of 100 days.
Statoil has also signed a letter of award (LoA) with Odfjell Drilling that secures the semisubDeepsea Bergen for drilling activities in 2018-2019. The LoA includes one firm well plus three optional wells.
Estimated start of operations is 2Q/3Q 2018 in direct continuation with the rig’sdrilling program for OMV. The contract value is up to $55 million.
The two parties have additionally agreed to suspend completion of the currentDeepsea Bergen contract and re-arrange the drilling schedule, allowing the rig to start a one well plus option contract with Faroe Petroleum earlier.
On completion of the Faroe well, the rig will re-start work for Statoil and complete the remaining drilling program of one well at the contracted day rate.
