COPENHAGEN, Denmark -- Hess and partners have sanctioned Phase III development of the South Arne field in license 07/89 in the Danish North Sea.
The new program is designed to extract a further 15 MMboe, and involves drilling and stimulation of 11 new wells and installing two new wellhead platforms, one an unmanned structure 2.5 km (1.55 mi) north of the existing South Arne platform, and another platform adjoining the existing facility.
Currently, the field produces around 25,000 boe/d.
First oil and gas from the new wells should flow around end-2012 to early 2013. Hess has a 57.5% operated interest in South Arne, in partnership with DONG Energy (34.4%), Noreco (6.5%), and Danoil (1.5%).
