Lundin moves on from latest Barents Sea disappointment

Lundin Petroleum has decided to P&A its latest exploratory well in the Norwegian Barents Sea after finding sand with oil shows in the Pointer and Setter prospects.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden – Lundin Petroleum has decided to P&A its latest exploratory well in the Norwegian Barents Sea after finding sand with oil shows in the Pointer and Setter prospects.
The semisubmersibleLeiv Eiriksson drilled well 7121/1-2 S in license PL767, 20 km (12.4 mi) north of the Snøhvit gas field. Lundin plans to analyze the oil samples and other data from the well to mature remaining leads and prospects on the license and adjacent areas of the Hammerfest basin.
TheLeiv Eiriksson will next drill a dual-branch exploration well for Lundin in PL338 in the North Sea, targeting the Jorvik and Tellus East prospects on the eastern side of the Edvard Grieg field.
