STAVANGER -- Wildcat well 25/4-10 A in the North is uncommercial, according to Marathon Petroleum.
The well struck gas in two sandstone layers in the Lista formation totaling 6 m (20 ft). The reservoir rock is significantly thinner than company expectations and no formation testing was conducted.
The company carried out extensive data acquisition and is evaluating the discovery together with the nearby 25/4-3 Gekko oil and gas find.
The rig Transocean Winner drilled the well to a vertical depth of 2,167 m (7,110 ft) below the sea surface. The well was terminated in Paleocene rocks (the Heimdal formation) and has been permanently plugged and abandoned.
