OSLO, Norway – Eni Norge has completed drilling of appraisal well 7122/7-6 on the Goliat field in the Barents Sea.
According to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate, the aim of the well in license PL 229 was to investigate reservoir properties in the oil-bearing zones that are included in the approved field development plan.
The well was drilled by the semisubmersibleScarabeo 8 in 382 m (1,253 ft) of water. It intersected a previously undrilled fault block, encountering petroleum as expected in Upper to Middle Triassic reservoir rocks (Realgrunn and Ingøydjup sub-groups).
Data has been acquired to assist further well planning on the ongoing field development.Scarabeo 8 will now perform production drilling on Goliat, which is due to come onstream in summer 2014.
Eni Norge has awarded Apply Sørco a three-year maintenance and modifications contract for the same project. This covers engineering support, studies, and maintenance and modification services. Modification could include all phases up to and including the complete engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning process.
The program also takes in maintenance of steel structures and pipe, and various support services required in preparations for operational readiness and operations on the Goliat platform.
