LONDON – The semisubmersible Wilhunter has started drilling the Romeo exploration prospect in the UK central North Sea.
Suncor Energy operates surrounding block 30/11c, license P.1666, but the well is being drilled jointly with the P.1816 (block 29/15a) licensees, led by Total.
According to Suncor’s partner Trapoil, Romeo is a four-way dip closure mapped at Base Cretaceous Unconformity with Fulmar sands as the reservoir objective. Prospective resources are up to 44 MMboe.
Drilling should last 78 days in the event of a dry hole. The well will be drilled to an estimated TD of 15,180 ft (4,627 m).
