The well was drilled by theHYSY 931 rig over the WZ6-12 wellhead platform. It was designed to test the Sliver fault segment and the Liushagang footwall exploration prospects.
This was the third success of athree-well exploration program. It intersected 10.4 m (34 ft) of net oil pay in the Weizhou formation associated with the Sliver prospect.
Currently 7-in. production liner is being run to allow future completion and tie-in for production. Oil samples and pressure data will assist analysis of the extent of the oil column.
Roc Oil plans to integrate the discoveries into the currentBeibu development project and to use the results to further optimize the development wells.
The partners have decided to review the WZ 6-12 area or additional exploration potential. At least two additional development wells will be needed for the WZ6-12 North field development.
HYSY 931 will shortly start drilling development wells over the WZ6-12 wellhead platform. Roc Oil is targeting first oil from the Beibu program early next year.
