Drilling expands oil play in Beibu Gulf

Roc Oil has found more oil in the WZ6-12 and WZ12-8 West Oil Field development areas in the Beibu Gulf offshore China.

SYDNEY, Australia – Roc Oil has found more oil in the WZ6-12 and WZ12-8 West Oil Field development areas in the Beibu Gulf offshore China.

WZ6-12-A6, a deviated step-out exploration well on the northern flank of the WZ6-12 South field encountered hydrocarbons in multiple zones in the Weizhou formation.

TheHYSY 931 rig is drilling the well from the WZ6-12 wellhead platform. A production liner will be run to allow future completion and tie-in for production.

This was the second successful well in athree-well exploration and appraisal program, intersecting a total of 58 m (190 ft) TVD of net oil pay. The thickest individual pay interval is 38 m (124 ft).

Drilling has started of the third well, WZ6-12-A7, testing the Sliver and Liushagang prospects north of the WZ6-12 South field.
