BERGEN, Norway -- Statoil has awarded Odfjell Drilling a $27.7-million EPC(I) contract for a program on the Veslefrikk field in the Norwegian North Sea.

Odfjell will cooperated with Aibel on this project, which involves upgrade of the drilling system on the Veslefrikk platform, installation of a new drilling control center, and upgrade of the drilling control systems.

Veslefrikk, in block 30/3, began producing in 1989.

Last month Talisman Energy (UK) extended Odfjell Drilling’s contract for platform drilling and engineering in the UK sector for a fixed period of two years, with three one-year options.

This month, Talisman is due to resume drilling on the Claymore platform and in 2012 on the Auk platform, following installation of a complete new drilling module. Odfjell is involved in both cases.
