Woodside strengthens exploration portfolio offshore Western Australia

Woodside Energy shared various offshore project updates and reported that its production for the third quarter was a record 53.1 MMboe.

Woodside Energy has secured a new exploration permit offshore Western Australia, according to the company's third-quarter 2024 report. WA-554-P covers a 943-sq-km area in the Barrow sub-basin.

Elsewhere in the region, work continues on Woodside’s decommissioning campaign at the Griffin, Stybarrow and Enfield fields. During the third quarter, the teams recovered about 54 km of flexible flowlines and umbilicals, and they completed wellhead severance activities at Enfield.

The Stybarrow plug-and-abandonment (P&A) program is about 40% complete, with four wells P&A’d.

Offshore Egypt, the company has taken a 40% interest in the Eni-operated Tiba Block in the Nile Delta, Egypt.

In the US Gulf of Mexico, Woodside is a partner in the Mad Dog development, where operator bp has P&A’d well 869-1.
