According to partner PA Resources (PAR), well I-7 in block I encountered oil in good-quality sandstones at the target level. It has reached a total MD of 3,660 m (12,008 ft), and will be side tracked to an adjacent target.
Drill cuttings, wireline log data, and downhole measurements indicate about 12-m (39-ft) measured thickness and 10-m (33-ft) vertical thickness of net oil pay.
PAR CEO Bo Askvik said the result has “extended the proven Carla trend from block O into block I. Further analysis of the data will be required to assess the implications of the well and next steps on this trend.”
The partners plan an additional appraisal well and long-term test on theDiega field later this year, he added.
