KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – SapuraKencana Energy (SKE) has discovered gas in two wells in its current exploration campaign offshore Sarawak.
The company has drilled three wells in the block SK408 PSC area, all targeting non-associated gas within the primary Late Miocene carbonate target.
Jerun-1 was a significant discovery, around 5 km (3.1 mi) north of the 2014Bakong gas find. SKE’s analysis of electric log, pressure and sample data suggests a gross gas column of around 800 m (2,624 ft) in the primary target reservoir, with multi-tcf potential.
Jeremin-1, 15 km (9.3 mi) west of the F9 gas field, encountered a 104-m (341-ft) gross gas column. However, Putat-1, 20 km (12.4 mi) north of theCili Padi gas field, was a dry hole. All wells have since been P&A’d.
Jerun-1 and Jeremin-1 together and the company’s earlier five discoveries in the SK408 block are close to existing infrastructure supplying gas to the LNG complex in Bintulu, Sarawak.
SKE is the exploration operator with a 40% interest. Partners are Petronas Carigali and Sarawak Shell.
