NORTH SYDNEY, Australia – Santos has spudded the AAL-4X appraisal well in the Northwest Natuna PSC offshore Indonesia.
According to co-venturerAWE, the jackup Raniworo will drill the well to a TD of 1,232 m (4,042 ft) TVDSS, with the program likely to take 48 days to complete. Water depth is around 72 m (236 ft).
Northwest Natuna includes the Ande Ande Lumut (AAL) oil field which comprises the K Sand reservoir (101 MMbbl estimated as recoverable) and the underlying G Sand reservoir.
The AAL-4X appraisal well is targeting the G Sand reservoir, thought to hold potentially 289 MMbbl in place.
Appraisal should facilitate preparation of a development plan, possibly in tandem with the already approved K Sand development.
