WEST PERTH, Australia – The jackupAtwood Orca has spudded an appraisal/development well from the Manora oil field platform in the northern Gulf of Thailand.
Mubadala Petroleum is the operator. According to partnerTap Oil, the MNA-17 (AP) well path is planned as an appraisal/pilot well, appraising the 500 series sands and assessing a separate untested fault block, the Manora West structure.
This has the potential to de-risk the Greater Manora West prospective resources.
MNA-17 (AJ) will use the upper pilot section before being deviated into the central fault block as a new production well. It will be drilled to a TD of 1,859.3 m (6,100 ft). Operations are expected to last around five days.
The subsequent deviation should take a further five days to complete with a TD of 1,981.2 m (6,500 ft).
