Offshore staff
KASSEL, Germany – Wintershall has spudded its first offshore well for the Shuwaihat field project in Abu Dhabi.
In July 2015, the company and partnersADNOC and OMV completed the first onshore drilling of the sour gas and condensate field, located in the western part of Abu Dhabi, 25 km (15.5 mi) west of Ruwais.
Drilling of the offshore well SH-6 followed analysis of the onshore SH-5 well results.
Wintershall has developed the local port Mugharraq as an E&P supply base for the current campaign, and ADNOC has established an extended oil spill response system as operations are close to the shore.
A third planned well on Shuwaihat, SH 7, will also be drilled offshore.
