TRONDHEIM, Norway — OKEA has committed to a new exploration drilling campaign in the Draugen area of the Norwegian Sea.
According to the company’s latest results statement, the program could start this summer with a well on the Springmus East prospect in the Draugen license (PL093), with an option to also drill the Springmus West structure. The company also plans an observation well on the Garn West South IOR opportunity.
At the Draugen concrete platform, topside installation is underway to receive production from the single-well Hasselmus gas tieback, due to come onstream in the fourth quarter at more than 4,400 boe/d. The well has been drilled, and subsea installation should begin this summer.
Last November OKEA received approval to enter the Arkenstone license (PL1014) and to transfer operatorship of the Mistral license (PL1119) to Equinor. The partners have agreed to drill wells on both permits, with the Arkenstone well likely to spud during the second half of this year.
Having assumed operatorship of the mature Brage Field in the North Sea from Wintershall Dea, OKEA has been working on ways of extending the asset’s lifespan. During the fourth quarter, drilling started on a new oil production well in the Talisker East area, with a geo-pilot section of the well confirming hydrocarbons in the Cook Formation area and Talisker area.
The next planned well will be a gas producer in the Sognefjord Formation, followed by an oil producer in the Cook Formation. Work also has started on the Talisker West development project with the company targeting approval from the Norwegian authorities later this year.
At the Repsol Norge-operated Yme field development in the eastern North Sea, the jackup Valaris Viking completed the Beta North drilling campaign last month.
Beta North, a subsea tieback to the Yme jackup platform, includes two new production wells and one injector. Later in the current quarter, Noble’s Inspirer should start drilling new production wells and one injector well at Yme Gamma.
Finally, the Wintershall Dea-led partnership plans sidetrack drilling this spring on the Nova Field in the North Sea to improve the location of one of the injector wells and increase its impact on production. Further actions to improve water injection on the field are under study.
