LONDON – Kistos expects Borr Drilling’s jackup Prospector-1 to spud an appraisal well later this week on the Q11-B gas discovery in the Dutch North Sea.
The well should take at least six weeks to drill and test, and will then likely be suspended for future use in a Q11-B development.
Previously, the same rig had worked for the company on the Q10-A field, appraising the Vlieland sandstone formation in the Q07 and Q10 blocks.
The well flowed oil to surface at a maximum stable rate of 3,200 b/d of 33° API light oil, with a low sulfur content. Work has started on the development concept.
Following testing of the Vlieland formation, a side track was drilled from the Q10-A04-A wellbore at high angle through the Zechstein carbonates and clastics and completed in the primary Slochteren formation at a TVDss of 2,319 m (7,608 ft).
The well is currently producing gas from the Slochteren reservoir at 5,080 boe/d, with the other horizons currently shut-in for reservoir management purposes.
Gross production from the Q10-A field is currently around 12,700 boe/d.
