OSLO, Norway – BW Energy has completed drilling and the logging of the Hibiscus North (DHBNM-1) exploration well in the Dussafu PSC offshore Gabon.

The structure is 6 km (4 mi) north-northeast of the Hibiscus discovery in 115 m (377 ft) water depth.

The Borr Drilling jackup Norve drilled the latest well to a TD of 3,336 m (10,945 ft), encountering oil-bearing reservoir in the Upper Gamba sandstone and in the deeper Dentale formation.

Wireline logging and fluid sample analyses indicate lower volumes of hydrocarbons than anticipated (toward the lower end of the pre-drill 10-40 MMbbl estimate), although potentially still sufficient for a future tieback to the Hibiscus Ruche development.

BW Energy added that the Hibiscus 2P recoverable reserve estimate of 46.1 MMbbl, established by the Hibiscus well (DHIBM-1) and its appraisal side track in 2019, remain the same and will form the core of the upcoming Hibiscus/Ruche development.

The Norve will shortly P&A the Hibiscus North well.
