OSLO, Norway – The semisubmersible Borgland Dolphin has spudded the Gomez exploration well for DNO Norge on the PL006C license in the Norwegian North Sea.
The well will be drilled to a depth of around 3,300 m (10,827 ft) below sea level, targeting Paleocene age formations and potential resources in the range of 26-80 MMboe. Drilling should continue for 45 days.
Gomes is close to existing offshore infrastructure, including ConocoPhillips’s Tor and Ekofisk complexes.
This is the second of three exploration wells for DNO this year. The first, on the Røver Nord field, appears to be a commercial discovery.
During 4Q drilling should start on the third well, the Mugnetind prospect.
DNO is also participating in appraisal drilling on the Bergknapp and Black Vulture discoveries.
