LYNGBY, Denmark – Karoon Energy has contracted Maersk Drilling’s semisubmersible Mærsk Developer to conduct interventions on four wells at the Baúna field offshore Brazil.

The 110-firm day contract is due to start in the first half of 2022. The fee is around $34 million, including rig modifications and mobilization.

Karoon has the option to extend the campaign to include up to 150 days to perform drilling and completion of two vertical development wells at the nearby Patola field in the BMS-40 production license, for tieback to the Baúna FPSO, Cidade de Itajaí; and a control well on the Neon light oil discovery, 60 km (37 mi) northeast of Baúna.

Delivered in 2009, the Mærsk Developer is a DSS-21 column-stabilized DP semi and currently operating offshore Suriname.
