TRONDHEIM, Norway – The semisubmersible COSLInnovator has spudded an exploration well for Chrysaor on the Jerv prospect in the southern Norwegian North Sea, close to the UK median line.
Jerv is in license PL973, directly south of the OKEA-operated Grevling and Storskrymten discoveries.
OKEA, which has a 30% interest in PL973, said the partners took an early decision to drill in order to speed up their search for additional resources to support ongoing field development plans.
After drilling well 15/12-25, the rig is due to spud well 15/12-26 on the Ilder prospect. If either delivers a discovery, a side track and well testing may follow.
Andrew McCann, senior vice president Subsurface & Wells at OKEA., said: ‘’We have a third exploration well to be drilled later in the year on PL1060 and we hope that together they will provide resources to build our asset base further.’’
Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) has given Lundin Norway permission consent to use Seadrill’s semisub West Bollsta for completing well 16/1-CA-1 H on the Rolvsnes field in the central Norwegian North Sea.
However, the PSA has also ordered Seadrill Europe Management to take multiple actions on the same rig following an audit in December last year.
The aim was to ensure that operation of electrical facilities and the requirements for responsible persons for the electrical facilities were in compliance with the regulations.
Eleven non-conformities came to light: including the emergency power systems; ignition source control; ventilation systems; active and passive fire protection; winterization; electrical facilities and installations.
The audit also identified the need for improvements concerning control systems and technical operating documents
The PSA has ordered Seadrill to act on certain issues by March 26, and on others by Sept. 24.
