BANGKOK, Thailand – PTTEP has confirmed its largest-ever gas discovery with the Lang Lebah-2 appraisal well on the SK410B block offshore Sarawak, Malaysia.

The company discovered gas with the Lang Lebah-1RDR2 exploration well in 2019.

The appraisal well was completed in mid-January 2021. It was drilled to a total depth of 4,320 m (14,713 ft) and proved more than 600 m (1,968 ft) of net gas pay, indicating a larger reservoir than the initial estimate.

The well test showed a flow rate of 50 MMcf/d. The result will accelerate the development plan for the project, the company said.

SK410B is about 90 km (56 mi) offshore Sarawak. PTTEP’s Malaysian subsidiary PTTEP HKO is the operator with 42.5% participating interest. KUFPEC Malaysia (SK-410B) Ltd. holds 42.5% and Petronas Carigali Sdn. Bhd. holds 15%.
