STAVANGER, Norway – Neodrill has signed a frame agreement with Neptune Energy covering its CAN-ductor technology.
Two CAN-ductors were installed in April on two of Neptune’s exploration wells in the Norwegian North Sea. In August, the company discovered oil with one of these on the Dugong prospect in license PL882.
A second campaign, due to begin this month, includes one CAN-ductor on the Tail well and another on the Dugong appraisal well. According to Neodrill, the use of one installation vessel across both wells brings cost savings, efficiency gains, and reduced emissions.
The company claims its CAN technology can reduce environmental impact on top hole activity by up to 44%, compared to conventional technologies.
Thor Andre Løvoll, director of Drilling & Wells, Neptune Energy Norge, said the environmental impacts were lower mainly due to the reduced rig time and need for casing materials.
“We estimate a reduced rig time of two to four days per well, which also reduces the drilling cost for the Dugong appraisal and Tail well.”
